DEEPING ST NICHOLAS WINDCLUSTER APPROVED
South Holland District moved towards a more sustainable future
today, with the announcement that permission has been granted
for the windcluster at Deeping St Nicholas, near Spalding.
Approval was granted by the Planning Inspector, following
the four-day Public Inquiry held in the Council Offices two
months ago.
The windcluster, consisting of eight wind turbines, will
supply enough clean green electricity to meet the needs of
around 8,400 homes, on average, whilst at the same time reducing
carbon dioxide emissions by some 34,000 tonnes per annum.
Benefits for the local community will include the unique
opportunity for people to invest in green energy, and as part
of the project Wind Prospect pledge to help fund local community
projects.
Richard Barker, Development Manager with Wind Prospect
said:
"We undertook comprehensive environmental assessments
and community consultation during the development of this
site. We have always felt that it was a very good site for
a windcluster and we are very pleased that the Inspector has
backed our judgement. I hope that the people of South Holland
will be proud of this important development in their district,
which will contribute towards a more sustainable future for
everyone. '
Ends.
