Wind Prospect is Developer's Developer of 2003
The 2003 UK Developer's Developer award has been won by
two of Wind Prospect's Directors, Dr Euan Cameron and Mr Colin
Palmer, by the British Wind Energy Association.
The annual award, voted for by industry peers, was presented
to the Wind Prospect team at the BWEA Conference Gala Dinner
in Glasgow. It follows a decade of commitment to the wind
industry and a recent run of planning successes, construction
achievements and a significant increase in their operations
portfolio to nearly 50 turbines.
Since their first project at Haverigg in 1992, the team have
been involved in over 30 approved wind farms, with a total
capacity of over 600MW, both onshore and offshore, in the
UK, Ireland and Australia.
In 2003 Wind Prospect's planning successes have included
the Burbo Bank Offshore Wind Farm (90MW) and onshore wind
farms at Bicker Fen (26MW), Deeping St Nicholas (16MW), Gedney
Marsh (12MW) and Glass Moor (16MW).
With Bruce Allan leading the company's engineering services,
last year Wind Prospect project managed the construction of
60% of the commissioned turbines in the UK. With the company's
recent planning successes, the company is in good stead to
take advantage of their long history and extensive experience
and lead the way in the installation of the capacity created
by Renewables Obligation.
Development Director, Colin Palmer said:
"This award is a confirmation of the dedicated efforts
of the Wind Prospect development team who have put together
an excellent portfolio of projects. Development is a slow
and sometimes frustrating process, but they have stuck at
it and can take great pride in seeing the consents that are
now starting to come through."
