The Wardlaw Wood windcluster is an 18MW wind energy project
on land owned by Community Windpower at Dalry, North Ayrshire
in Scotland.
Planning permission was obtained for the erection of six
wind turbines, each up to 3MW, with a maximum of 80m to hub
height and a 90m blade diameter.
For the duration of the project, Wind Prospect acted for
Community Windpower as engineer and project manager.
The windcluster will supply the electricity needs of approximately
10,000 homes, thereby preventing the emission of over 24,500
tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year .
Wind Prospect is assisted with pre-construction activities
including geotechnical investigations, environmental assessments
and planning issues. A new 4km access route to site was developed
for construction and turbine delivery vehicles.
The construction was completed in late 2005.
